Industry: Pulp and Paper
Solution: Valves, Pipes and Fittings
Location: Shelton, WA
Date: June 2024
Problem:
Conveyor drive drums, feed rollers, and brake test rollers lose grip over time as surfaces wear smooth, causing belt slippage, material misfeeds, and lost production. Traditional fixes like rubber lagging degrade quickly, weld-on cleats create stress points, and knurling polishes out within months — each requiring the roller to be pulled from service for repair.
Solution:
This lumber mill in Shelton WA was experiencing a slow down in production due to smoothing of feed rollers. Belzona 1821 (Fluid Metal) and 9221 aggregate was applied to create a permanent positive grip surface directly on the roller. Applied cold with Belzona Supergrip aggregate, the system bonds mechanically to metal surfaces and will not polish, peel, or wear away — with documented grip performance this solution can last well over 12-15 years in service before renewel.
